Scott Whitcher, Founder

As a founding partner of Trellis Wealth Advisors, Scott Whitcher shares equal responsibility for every aspect of running the business, working with clients, and managing portfolios.

Prior to founding Trellis Wealth Advisors, Scott created and served as Managing Director of Stone & Youngberg’s Asset Management Group, where he was responsible for overall portfolio construction and investment strategy for the firm’s discretionary managed client accounts.

Scott provided clients with portfolio recommendations focused on long-term, cost effective, and tax efficient investing. To meet this end, he oversaw the analysis and selection of traditional equity and fixed income vehicles as well as alternative investment opportunities.

Prior to joining Stone & Youngberg, Scott was a partner at Sterling Stamos, where he was responsible for developing and managing the firm’s relationships with its institutional and private investors.

Before Sterling Stamos, he was an investment counselor for the Citigroup Private Bank, and was responsible for investment counseling, portfolio construction, investment manager selection, and client service in connection with private client portfolios.

Prior to Citigroup, Scott headed the Investment Consulting Group for Robertson Stephens’ high net worth private clients, which entailed the building of custom asset allocation plans and investment policy statements, investment manager research and due diligence, and administration of the private client investment plans.

Scott also spent six years at Collins Associates, an alternative investment specialist, where he administered numerous investment funds, structured private investment vehicles, and performed investment manager research and due diligence.

Scott earned an MBA degree from San Francisco State University and a BA degree in Business Economics from California State University Fullerton.

“I made up my mind that I was going to create an investment firm from scratch – a firm that has no conflicts, no constraints, is totally transparent, is grounded in common sense, makes time to talk with people, and always does the right thing for its clients.”
